Front Cover
MASTHEAD:
The masthead is the same as any typical magazine
that is sold in shops, it is right at the top of the
magazine so it stands out against the other magazine,
if it was put up against other magazines. I have
used a white font because they image I will use
is fairly dark at the top so will not contrast, black
and white complement each other nicely. I have
taken this idea from the three magazine covers
that I have previously looked at analysed andevaluated.
I have also used san serif to give it not such a
formal lookand friendlier to the reader,
considering my target is for younger readers.
TAGLINE:
Again the tagline is just below the masthead which
is typical for a magazine to do, it doesn’t take the
attention from the masthead, but isn’t so small that
it is insignificant and should just be discarded and
not read. Again I have gone for a white font colour,
this shows that I have some order to the colours I
have used not just random colours which would have a
childish look and that is not what I want for my magazine.
PUGS AND PUFFS:
Pugs and puffs I have used two, one is a promotion of competitions to be in with a chance of winning tickets to a festival or a gig, this would be aimed at the older students such as the sixth formers, this is showing that I aiming towards all of the ages in the school not just younger students and not just older students. This will persuade the older students to at least buy it and read that section and also might persuade them to read more. I have also put in freebies by putting in the top right hand corner quizzes, word searches and more, this will then appeal to the younger students. I feel that I am keeping a balance well on the front cover of appealing to all ages of the school and not just one particular group.
USE OF IMAGES:
The images that I will be using and have said that I will use are not only appropriate but fit in well with the look of the FC. They don’t just show that my school is about learning and about education, it also shows that my school is about sports and is about being social with the image of all of the students talking and being in the corridor it almost shows a unity that everyone is together and gets on well with each other.
SIDEBAR:
The sidebar is a good asset to the FC, this gives a little snippet of what to expect and what the reader will find in the magazine, it has a short and punchy line next to an image of what the feature is about this gives anchorage and the punchy line also makes it interesting for the reader, it drags them in and wants know more about that feature, for example ‘celebrity of the week’ it doesn’t say about the celebrity who it is what may feature, it just says that so this creates interest because the reader will be wondering and will want to find out what this means.

TITLE:
The title is different than the one on the front cover,
it is in serif this is showing it as more of an official and
professional message an information. Because it is a
message from head teacher I thought that using serif
was more of an appropriate style than san serif. Also I
have chosen white again as the text colour all of the text
white as to show some order instead of any colour. The
title is also at the top and shows that it is important that
the reader sees what the head teacher has to say, given his status.
TEXT-HEADTEACHERS MESSAGE:
The head teachers message takes up half the page,
this is the only official part to be honest of the whole
magazine because the magazine does have a more light
hearted feel and friendlier, it doesn’t just talk about
the educational side of school. So I have put this at the
beginning of the magazine to almost get it out the
way so people don’t get put off reading.
THE USE OF THE IMAGES:
The background image is of the front of the school this shows the
school first and for most, also it represents that this is where all
of the features and events happen so it is appropriate to put it
on the contents page because the school is where the content
comes from. The image of the successful GCSE students, is there
to show that this school does also care about education and
not just other areas of school and shows the success they have,
also a parent is more than likely to look at the magazine if their child brings it home with them.
